The annual Les Schwab Car Show raised $4,600 for trade school scholarships for students at Oasis Academy and Churchill County High School through community donations and a matching contribution from Les Schwab.

More than 50 participants took part in the show. Mick Bettencourt won Best in Show with his 1956 Ford Sunliner, Greg Wargio won People’s Choice with his 1990 Freightliner, and Frank Fisk won Host’s Choice with his 1969 Dodge Dart.

Organized by Victoria Crystal, the show has supported local nonprofits and families in need for five years. This year, the event raised $2,300 for the Les Schwab Tyler Crystal Memorial Trade School Scholarship, and Les Schwab matched that amount. Oasis Academy High School and Churchill County High School will each receive $2,300 to support students pursuing education in the trades.

The event will be renamed the Les Schwab Tyler Crystal Memorial Trade School Scholarship Car Show.

Local supporters included Frey Ranch, Desert Embers, RANGE Media Co., Ty’s Let’m Buck Rodeo, Fallon Tribal Development Corporation, Tallow Utopia, Otis Grill, and Berney Realty. Frey Ranch provided the Best in Show gift basket. Otis Grill and Berney Realty also supported the scholarship.

Tallow Utopia sponsored the Bearded Man Contest and donated 25% of its sales to help a local man battling cancer.

Fallon Ford Toyota made space available at its new location next to Les Schwab for additional show vehicles, and Desert Embers provided its neighboring parking lot for spectators. RANGE Media Co. promoted the event through advertising.

Crystal thanked Les Schwab for five years of support and for matching this year’s donations. She also thanked the businesses, participants, and volunteers who helped with setup, registration, vote tallying, and cleanup.
