Fallon won twice last week, sweeping Dayton on Oct. 14 and defeating Lowry in four sets on Friday to secure a playoff berth.

The two wins assures that the Greenwave will be one of the eight teams in the 3A North Region Tournament and will play next Tuesday, but the location and opponent were to be determined by this week’s matches.

Fallon was scheduled to play Incline in a Northern 3A crossover match on Wednesday, then host Spring Creek at 6 p.m. Friday and Elko at noon Saturday. The top two teams in the East and West divisions and the next four teams with the most points in the standings regardless of division qualify for the tournament.

Fallon enters this week tied for third place in the East with Elko and Spring Creek at 4-4, while Dayton is second at 5-4. Either of those four teams could end up as the second-place team in the East and could be seeded anywhere from third to eighth for the region tournament.

The top four teams earn a home game for the first-round next Tuesday, with the semifinals and finals nest Friday and Saturday at South Tahoe.

Stats were not available for the Greenwave’s 3‑0 win over Dayton.

Against Lowry, Fallon won 25‑14, 25‑8, 23‑25, 25‑15. Raegan Johnson finished with 20 kills, Audrey Fruzza added 10 kills and four blocks, Layla Walker had 19 digs, and Amillya Bishop recorded 25 assists.

Coach Tristin Johnson said the team is building momentum.

“We are very excited that we played well against Lowry and guaranteed ourselves a playoff spot,” she said. “We’re still working hard to keep improving each day. We just want to give ourselves a chance. I firmly believe we can beat anyone when we’re playing together as a team. Looking forward to the opportunities ahead of us so we can get better each game.”
