While they would likely make the 3A North Region Tournament either way, the Churchill County High School boys soccer team looks to end the regular season this Friday with a win over its cross-valley rival.

The Greenwave hosts Fernley at 3:34 p.m. Friday for the regular-season finale. The Greenwave appear to be assured of a playoff berth and would be playing next Tuesday, but a win over Fernley would make that a certainty.

The Greenwave are currently fourth in the East Division with a 3-5-1 record but entered the week sixth in the 3A North with 24 points in the standings.

If Lowry were to lose its last two games, to Elko and West Wendover, the Greenwave could end up as the No. 5 seed, but they could also drop to seventh if Incline wins both of its games this week

The first round of the regionals is at home sites on Tuesday with the top four seeds hosting first round games.

The Greenwave solidified their position last week by beating Lowry 3-0 on Thursday. They also lost 4-1 to Spring Creek last Saturday. Fallon is Now 3-5-1 in Northern 3A East.

Raul Sanchez had two goals against Lowry, Adan Roman added a goal and Jarrett Ugalde had an assist. Goalkeeper Caiden Nietz made 13 saves.

No stats were available for Saturday’s game against Spring Creek.
