Staff Report
Classic cars, custom trucks, Halloween fun, and a good cause will come together Sunday, Oct. 25, for the fifth annual car show at Les Schwab Tires and Frey Ranch, 2555 Reno Highway in Fallon.
Presented with support from RANGE Media Company, Ty's Let'm Buck Rodeo Co., Desert Embers, and the Fallon Tribal Development Corporation, the event will bring car enthusiasts and community members together to raise money for a trade school scholarship in memory of Tyler Crystal.
Registration and check-in begin at 9 a.m., with the car show starting at 10 a.m. The registration fee is $30 per vehicle, and trophies will be awarded in a wide variety of categories, including Best in Show, People's Choice, Best Paint, Best Interior, Best Engine, Best Truck, Best Motorcycle, Best Off-Road, Best American, Best Foreign, and several decade-specific classes.
The event will also feature a Halloween theme, with reflective trick-or-treat goodie bags for children and food provided by Otis' Grill.
Adding to the festivities will be a Bearded Man Contest beginning at 11 a.m. The contest has a $20 entry fee, with all proceeds benefiting a local family battling cancer.
Two prizes will be awarded, including the lighthearted categories "Don't Hate Me Because I Am Beardiful" and "Follically Superior."
Tallow Utopia, a sponsor of the beard contest, will also donate 25 percent of its sales from the car show to the family.
Organizers hope the combination of cars, trucks, community spirit, and fundraising will make the fifth annual event a memorable day for participants and spectators alike.
