As the autumn leaves begin to fall and the evenings turn cool, there is no better place to warm up than inside your favorite historic theater. We love seeing our community gather under the marquee as the fall season kicks into high gear, and we have a fantastic lineup of movies, live shows, and special events planned to help us close out the year together. Be sure to stay tuned for our upcoming November and December schedules, as we have so many exciting holiday traditions and fun surprises in store. In the meantime, check out what’s hitting the big screen this weekend:
Join us this Friday, Oct. 16, at 1 p.m. for our monthly Third Friday Matinee featuring Mel Brooks’ hilarious comedy classic “Young Frankenstein” (1974). Gene Wilder stars as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein ("Fronkensteen"), who inherits his infamous grandfather's estate and ends up creating a monster of his own with unforgettable results. Proudly sponsored by The Coalition for Senior Citizens, all moviegoers aged 60 and older receive a free small popcorn and small soda at the concession stand. Rated PG, it runs 1 hour and 46 minutes.
Then at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights, gather the whole family and brew up some fun with Disney’s Halloween favorite, “Hocus Pocus” (1993). When a curious teenager accidentally frees a trio of diabolical 17th-century witches in modern-day Salem, Massachusetts, he must team up with his sister, his crush, and an immortal talking cat to steal their book of spells before the sisters reclaim their youth forever. This is definitely one of our most highly attended holiday films, so come early to grab your snacks and settle in. Rated PG, it runs 1 hour and 36 minutes.
Or, at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, keep the laughs rolling into the evening with another screening of “Young Frankenstein” (1974). If you can't make our afternoon matinee, join us for prime-time evening fun as Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder serve up page after page of mad-science parody and legendary one-liners on the big screen.
At the end of October, one of our favorite Fallon traditions returns, and this year it’s bigger, spookier, and better than ever. Join us downtown on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 3 to 6 p.m. for The Maine Street Spooktacular. Free to attend, this ultimate autumn block party features trick-or-treating, trunk-or-treating, bounce houses, pumpkin painting, a haunted house, tasty local food, and beats by DJ Todd Moretto. Plus, there will be a very special guest. Jacques Magician will be wandering the street, visiting with trick-or-treaters and performing mind-bending magic tricks all afternoon. If you or your organization would like to set up and pass out candy to our local ghosts and ghouls, contact Huck Salt at 775-423-2055 or [email protected] to reserve a spot.
In November, gear up for a night of pure laughter on Friday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. as clean, family-friendly stand-up comedy returns to the Fallon Theatre. We are thrilled to welcome Nashville-based comedian Lee Hardin (Dry Bar Comedy, “The Mike Huckabee Show”) back to our stage for an evening of warm, relatable humor the whole family can enjoy. Tickets are $20, but you can snag an Early Bird Discount of $5 off until Oct. 31, or grab a Double Date Discount to get four tickets for the price of two. Grab your seats early and join us for a great night out right here in your favorite historic theater.
