An Evening of Laughter for a Good Cause

An evening of family-friendly comedy brought community members to the Fallon Theatre Thursday, Oct. 8, for a fundraiser benefiting the Pregnancy Care Center of Churchill County.

Stand-up comedian Tim Boyd took the stage for the fundraiser, sponsored by Oasis Community Church and First Southern Baptist Church. The evening offered something for the whole family, with parents enjoying Boyd’s performance while children watched a movie at the theater. The Fallon Theatre also operated its snack bar during the event.

Before the comedy began, Monica Miller, executive director of the Pregnancy Care Center of Churchill County, welcomed the audience and shared information about the organization’s work with local families.

For families facing an unexpected pregnancy, the center offers a place to find information, education, and practical assistance. The nonprofit provides free and confidential services, including pregnancy testing and verification, prenatal and parenting classes, counseling related to abortion and miscarriage, and doula services.

The center’s work also extends to fathers. Through its fatherhood program, men have opportunities to learn about parenting responsibilities and ways to support their partners as they prepare for a new baby.

The organization also plans to introduce an ultrasound program in 2027, according to information provided for the event.

Keeping those services available depends on community support. As a nonprofit organization, the Pregnancy Care Center of Churchill County relies on donations to help sustain its programs and provide assistance to families.

Miller emphasized that contributions of all kinds are welcome. Financial donations help support the center’s operations, while diapers, baby clothing, and other necessities help meet the everyday needs of parents and young children.

Thursday’s comedy night brought together local churches, the Fallon Theatre, and community members for an evening that combined entertainment with an opportunity to support families in Churchill County.
