It has been a busy and exciting two weeks for our Class of 2027. Seniors are taking important steps toward discovering what comes next after high school.
Thirty-nine seniors traveled to Truckee Meadows Community College to tour the campus and explore a variety of career and trade school opportunities. Students had the opportunity to learn about hands-on programs, technical careers, certificates, and pathways that can lead directly to employment or continued education.
On Sept. 30, 50 seniors attended the University of Nevada, Reno’s Nevada Bound program, giving them the opportunity to experience a four-year university, tour campus facilities, learn about college programs, and begin seeing themselves as college students.
These experiences are an important part of our Career Pathways program. Career planning is more than choosing a college — it is helping every student identify a Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C based on their interests, strengths, talents, and future goals.
By visiting colleges, trade schools, and training programs while they are still in high school, students can make informed decisions about their next steps. They begin to understand that there are many successful pathways after graduation, including four-year colleges, community colleges, trade and technical programs, apprenticeships, military service, and direct entry into the workforce.
The goal is simple: Every senior should graduate with a plan and the confidence to take the next step toward a career.
The Class of 2027 is getting out there, asking questions, exploring possibilities, and building their futures — one career pathway at a time.
