Fallon Church of the Nazarene broke ground Sept. 23 on a new dormitory complex for the Nazarene Youth Missions Academy, beginning a three-phase project expected to continue through 2029.
The Nazarene Youth Missions Academy, or NYMA, is a youth leadership and missions program based in Fallon. The program began with a pilot session at Fallon Church of the Nazarene earlier this year and is scheduled to hold its 2027 session in Fallon.
The first phase of the dormitory project is expected to be completed in 2027, with the final phase scheduled for completion in 2029, according to information provided for the groundbreaking.
Fallon Mayor Ken Tedford joined the Rev. Ron Armenta and the Rev. Darren Reed for the groundbreaking. Reed is superintendent of the Church of the Nazarene's Sacramento District. Armenta helped develop the proposal for NYMA and oversaw its Fallon pilot program, according to the Church of the Nazarene.
The completed complex is intended to provide space for students to live, learn, worship, serve, and prepare for mission work, according to information provided for the project. Members of the Fallon Chamber of Commerce and the community also attended the groundbreaking.
