The Silver Stage High School volleyball team claimed its second consecutive league win with a four-set win at Oasis Academy on Sept. 16, but couldn’t keep the momentum going on Saturday, when it lost in three sets to North Tahoe.
Paced by strong play at the net from Priscilla Hesselguesser and Samantha Sell, the Nighthawks rallied from a first-set loss to win the next three and claim a 28-20, 25-13, 25-23, 25-17 win.
Hesselguesser had 14 kills and also had eight digs from the back row, while Sell had eight kills and five blocks. Lauren Broughton added six kills and three blocks and Joselyn Fayaud had 10 digs. Robin Smith set up the attack with 23 assists.
At North Tahoe on Sept. 19, the Nighthawks ran into the league’s first-place team, which beat them in three sets, 25-10, 25-16, 25-14.
Silver Stage entered this week with a 2-6 record in the Northern 2A and 3-13 overall and is scheduled to visit Sierra Luthera at 5 p.m. Friday.
