Social Services Connects Residents With Statewide Assistance Network

Churchill County residents facing financial hardship or another barrier to stability can contact the county’s Social Services Department for help identifying available programs and resources.

The department is part of the Nevada Community Action Association, a statewide network of 12 local organizations that work directly with individuals and families. Residents do not need to determine which program they need before calling. Social Services staff can help identify available services and connect them with appropriate resources.

Support may be available for employment, education, housing, transportation, food and nutrition, emergency needs, and other family and community services.

“Nevadans should know that they do not have to navigate difficult times alone,” Nevada Community Action Association Executive Director Matthew Saylor said. “Our 12 agencies are on the ground in communities across this state. They understand the challenges facing their neighbors, and they are ready to connect people with resources, opportunities and a path toward greater stability.”

The Community Action network was created to help communities address poverty and expand economic opportunities. In Nevada, the network is supported in part by the Community Services Block Grant, a federally funded program administered through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Community Services.
