The Churchill County High School girls soccer team dominated Wooster and Debbie Smith Academy last week in a pair of mercy-rule games, and now gets the change to test themselves against their 3A East league foes.
The Greenwave is scheduled to host Lowry at 4:45 p.m. Friday in the first league game for both teams. Fallon is 4-2-1, and oddly enough, every game has been a shutout. Fernley has blanked their opponent in all four wins, didn’t score in either of their losses and the tie was 0-0 against North Tahoe.
Last Wednesday, the Greenwave beat Wooster 11-0. They scored five goals in the first 11 minutes, three by Karlie Simper and one each by Zayrah Miranda and Kortnie Simper. Karlie Simper’s four goal and Kortnie Simper’s second made it 7-0 at the half.
Thursday the Greenwave beat Debbie Smith Academy 9-0. They led 8-0 at the half with five goals by Karlie Simper, two by Miranda and one each by Emma Lewis and Savannah Anderton.
“These were the last two preseason games (crossover games with the West) for us,” assistant coach Neill Tunstead said. They are a very important part of our ramp up, to build up towards our own season in the East.”
Lowry is 4-6-1, and also played Wooster and Debbie Smith Academy last week, beating Debbie Smith 8-1 and Wooster 10-0.
Tunstead said the team feels confident and well prepared for league play.
“We are incredibly pleased with how we’ve played and improved as the weeks have progressed so far,” he said. “The team looks great again this season strong in every position.”
Fallon boys soccer
Angel Barajas and Acen Williams each scored goals to help the Churchill County High School boys soccer team to its second win of the season, 3-1 over Dayton, on Sept. 10.
The Greenwave improved their record to 2-6-2 overall as they begin league play this week. Fallon plays Friday at 3:45 p.m. at West Wendover and at 11:45 a.m. Saturday at Elko for their first Northern 3A games of the season
