The Fallon cross country teams turned in solid performance at the North Tahoe Madman Mils Motivational meet last Friday, highlighted by a fifth place finish from the varsity girls and a tight one-minute spread among Fallon’s top four varsity boys.
The Fallon girls placed fifth with 155 points, while the boys placed sixth with 171 points.
In the 3.3-mile varsity boys race, the Greenwave was led by Jackson Barbee, who finished 28th in 24:39. Cody Frey (25:13), Lars Rasmussen (25:19) and Tayven Martinez (25:40) followed in tight succession, giving the Greenwave a compact scoring group that separated them from several teams behind them.
Alex Sorensen finished 54th in 27:34 for the Greenwave, Levi Bradford placed 72nd in 28:26, Alexander McBride finished 76th in 29:12, and Alex Bacallo placed 89th in 32:11.
Freshman Cayson Lacow posted Fallon’s top individual finish of the meet, placing third in the 2.8-mile freshman boys race in 19:02. Issabelle Walter-Chicas-Garibay added a seventh-place finish in the frosh/soph girls race, and Cassandra Hooper led Fallon’s varsity girls with a 13th place finish in 28:30.
Hooper was followed by Aubrey Strickland in 21st place in 30:54, Ella Bassham finished 62nd in 36:06, Melody Garcia‑Bishop placed 64th in 36:35, Kylee Moore finished 66th in 36:57, and Abigail Lacow placed 67th in 37:16.
This week, the Greenwave is scheduled to compete in the Silver Stage 3K on Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City.
