Mark your calendars for August 10, at 6 p.m. in the Rafter 3C Arena, for an event you won’t want to miss. Churchill County High School is hosting a Back to School Night like never before.

Join the high school staff as clubs, departments, and Career and Technical Education classes all host booths along with Nevada colleges and trade schools. Local community businesses will also be in attendance with informational booths and information about internships and employment opportunities.

“We hope the community will join us at the Rafter 3C Arena to celebrate a new school year, community partnerships & the opportunity to give our students a competitive advantage,” said Dr. Sue Segura, the School to Careers coordinator. “This is a night dedicated to celebrating everything that makes CCHS the best place to set yourself up for your future.”

She encourages all students to attend the event and “Come build relationships with colleges, recruiters, and businesses, visit with CCHS staff, catch up with friends, and enjoy a free BBQ and ice cream.”

The event is an opportunity for students to explore their future pathway. “Even if you are a senior, it is never too late to start figuring out what you want to do after graduation,” said Segura.

During the summer Segura placed nearly 40 CCHS students with several local businesses for paid internships. Students were required to attend weekly workshops, presented by local business owners, to learn various job skills and check in with regular evaluations.

The Back to School night will feature over 60 booths, food served by local elected and appointed officials, and the opportunity to meet teachers, high school staff, and the local business community.

Segura said there are several local sponsors she would like to also thank for their contributions to making the event a success, including New Millennium, Fallon Glass and Sign, Depot, Jeff’s Digitex Printing, CEDA, Churchill County, City of Fallon, and Model Dairy.
