Obituary - Marilyn Martin Stix

Marilyn Martin Stix, was born April 10, 1944, to Lenore and Johnnie Hill in Golden, Colorado. She passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2023. Marilyn’s mother was a seasonal hospitality worker, traveling to warmer weather in the winter. Due to this, Marilyn attended many different schools in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada. In her younger years, Marilyn worked as a twenty-one dealer in many of the local casinos. Marilyn had a talent for everything she touched. She was an exceptional artist and silversmith, selling many of her buckles and conches locally and abroad. She owned the Mound House in Carson City where she made many of her beautiful jewelry and horse tack. At one time, she worked for Joe the Chromer refinishing. She could overhaul an engine and rebuild an old car in addition to making the best dinner rolls around. Marilyn had a love for all animals, most especially horses, specializing in equine husbandry. She also bred dogs, specifically Schipperke, Corgis, and Pugs. She loved all her animals like they were her own children. Marilyn had a zest for life. She gave 100% in all she did and had fun doing so. All who had the pleasure of knowing Marilyn loved her quick wit and contagious laugh. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, brother Johnnie Hill (Ruth), and her beloved son, Robert Craig Martin, in October 2022. Bobby was “both ends of the rainbow” to her. Bobby’s loss was a devastation to us all but especially to Marilyn. They are reunited now. She is survived by her brother David Hill (Linda) and many nieces and nephews. If you wish to make a donation in Marilyn’s honor, please donate to CAPS (capsnevada.com), Fallon Animal Shelter, or to Rockin Kt Equine Redemption (rockinktequine.com). A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
