A Native of Reese River, Nevada Ernest died October 30, 2023, at the age of 93. He was raised in Reese River. As a young man, he worked at local ranches. He attended grade school in Ione, Nevada then moved to Fallon, Nevada at the age of fourteen. He attended Churchill County Public School for two years then graduated from Stewart Indian School in Carson City, Nevada 1949. 

He attended Pierce Junior College and Cali Polly Technical College. Ernest was drafted into the US Army on May 22, 1951, receiving military training at Fort Ord, California. Ernest was sent overseas during the Korean conflict he received an honorable discharge as Sergeant Ernest Hooper on February 21, 1953. Sergeant Ernest Hooper received a Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star Metal, Purple Heart medal, UN Service medal, and Korean Service medal with two Bronze Service stars. Most significant duty assignment HQ + HQ Btry First FA battalion. 

Reverend Ernest Hooper was an ordained minister of the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Connection and attended Ministry Institute in Hot Springs, South Dakota. He graduated in 1965 upon returning to Fallon he worked on heavy equipment machinery. Ernest and his family lived in Fallon Nevada. 

Funeral services are scheduled for November 4, 2023, at the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribal gymnasium at 11 AM.

Ernest is survived by his sisters Laura Saunders and Darlene Hooper. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hooper, Mr. and Mrs. David Hooper, Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Hooper, and Rebecca Chapin, fourteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, including numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are by Fitzhenry Funeral Home of Carson City, Nevada
