On May 26, the Oakland Athletics released renderings of their proposed $1.5 billion, 30,000-seat, retractable roof MLB ballpark planned for Las Vegas. The stadium is set to be situated on 9 acres of land on the southeast corner of the 35-acre Tropicana Las Vegas site. Fans seated behind home plate will have a view facing the Strip looking toward the outfield, with the back of the stadium facing Harry Reid International Airport.

It was announced last week that state and Clark County leaders reached a tentative agreement with the A’s on a stadium funding package. That agreement includes up to $380 million in public funding, including $180 million from the state and $145 million from Clark County. Of those amounts, $90 million of the state’s contribution would be repaid via tax revenues generated on the ballpark site, while $120 million of the county’s portion would be paid by the tax district. The legislature introduced SB 509 late Friday evening and a hearing was scheduled for this past Monday in the Senate Finance Committee and the Assembly Ways and Means Committee at 4 p.m. The bill would have to pass both committees and both chambers before the legislature adjourns on June 5. The Fallon Post will keep you posted next week on the status of the bill.

I don't think they should be able to put their stadium directly on the Strip. When it's time to vote on this, I hope the locals vote a commanding NO. I don't like the way they're bullying their way on the Strip. It's not we need them. They need us.

I think it time for the A's to find greener pastures City of Oakland had a chance along with the State California legislation to pass a bill federally that would have the same thing as Our state Nevada doing but they wanted the taxpayers to pony up 1.86 mil don't blame the A's it wouldnt give them much incentive it's a Win win for Las Vegas we would welcome them economicially it would create more for working sector not just for tourism
