Movies & More - For Nov 11

From Your Community Owned & Operated Fallon Theatre
Movies & More - For Nov 11

Join us this weekend, Friday, November 11, and Saturday, November 12 for two special Veterans Day evenings.

Friday evening, starting at 6:00 our first film feature is the 1995 film “The Little Princess.”  When her father enlists to fight for the British in WWI, young Sara Crewe goes to New York to attend the same boarding school her late mother attended. She soon clashes with the severe headmistress, Miss Minchin, who attempts to stifle Sara's creativity and sense of self-worth. Sara's belief that "every girl's a princess" is tested to the limit, however, when word comes that her father was killed in action and his estate has been seized by the British government. It stars Liesel Matthews, Eleanor Bron, and Liam Cunningham.

Our second showing Friday evening at 6:30 is “1917” a 2019 war film directed and produced by Sam Mendes, who co-wrote the film with Krysty Wilson-Cairns. The film is partially inspired by stories told to Mendes by his paternal grandfather Alfred about his service during World War I. It is April 1917, on the Western Front and two British soldiers are sent to deliver an urgent message to an isolated regiment. If the message is not received in time the regiment will walk into a trap and be massacred. To get to the regiment they will need to cross through enemy territory, time is of the essence and the journey is fraught with danger. The film stars Colin Firth, Dean-Charles Chapman, and George MacKay.

Saturday evening stand-up comedy returns to our historic stage with Veterans’ Day Weekend Comedy. Doors open at 6:30 and the show starts at 7:30. Advance tickets are $20 and can be purchased at BrianLeecomedy.ticketleap.com/veterans-day-weekend-comedy-night.

See you at the movies!
