Obituary - Leila Johnson Barber Lelia Johnson Barber

Leila was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on June 27, 1947. She was raised in Bountiful, Utah.

Leila married Stanley Dee Johnson in March of 1966. They raised their children in Fallon, Nevada where they worked together on their family ranch. She taught American Sign Language at Western Nevada College for many years.

After the passing of her first husband, Leila married Mick Barber in October of 2009 They split their time between Nevada and England attending as many family events as possible for both branches of the family. She loved her family and prioritized time with her grandchildren.

Leila was a world traveler and loved people, cultures, and languages. She and Mick traveled through Europe, visited Mick’s sister in South Africa, and completed a tour of the continental United States.

Leila had a kind and generous heart. She was always quick to offer help, love, and support to anyone in need.

Leila was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Dee Johnson, son Shane Dee Johnson, parents William and Jewel Buys, and siblings Dan Buys, Valerie Lynn Watson, and LeeAnn Graybill.

Leila is survived by her husband Mick Barber, her children, and their spouses: DeLea (Fernando) Rollano, Scott (Sarah) Johnson, Jewel (Joe) Fain, Spencer (Blair) Johnson, Amberlee (Steven) O'Driscoll, Stanley (Louise) Johnson, and Mick’s children: Steven (Mandy) Barber, Clare (Mick) Elshaw, 23 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A public viewing will be held Sunday, February 5th from 6 – 7 pm at the Smith Family Funeral Home. And again on Monday from 9:30 - 10:45 am at the LDS church at 750 W. Richards St. in Fallon, NV. Services will be held following the viewing on Monday at 11 am.

Auntie Leila your sweet and compassionate heart will be greatly missed. I will forever cherish the memories of making homemade icecream in a coffee can.

Leila will always be remembered in my heart as a loving and kind soul with great wisdom. I’m heartbroken to hear this news and will be praying for her family for strength during this difficult time. I’m sure Leila will be with Heavenly Father and at peace. Love and prayers Mary Lou Wilson

She was like a second mom to me when i was little. She eas amazing when my 1 yr old little sister died in a car accident in 1969. My parents were devestated, she comfomforted my brother and I. She was an angel on earth!
