Letter to the Editor -- from Marie Cannata

Dear Editor,

On January 14, 2022, a woman lost her home to a fire at 2650 Stark Lane in Fallon. At the time, she was in the hospital receiving treatment for cancer.

I would like to thank all those who helped her. I want to thank the volunteers who helped and the local businesses that graciously donated time, personnel, materials, and equipment. Rachel Smith and Ryan Hiibel generously donated the replacement mobile home.

Volunteers include Nathan Wadsworth, Greg Koenig, and their church wards, and a host of other volunteers and other community members who volunteered and donated time, supplies, and household necessities like sheets, dishes, and furniture.

Businesses include Parsons’ Drilling, Vinnie’s Electric, Louie’s Ace Hardware for equipment, Ernie Imus for equipment, Bill Brown for helping pay for demolition equipment, Safeway for donating water, Kent’s for materials, WT’s Auto for supplying tires and wheels, Jim Black for jacks, the City of Fallon for labor by Ryan Swirczek, and Erik Fain as well, for use of equipment.

A special thank you goes to Mayor Ken Tedford for his assistance. I would also like to thank the planning commission and the building department for advice and support, as well as employees Pam Moore, Jenna Neal, and Diane Moyle. The county road department and Sheriff’s Department deserve thanks for traffic control and signs.

Because of all this help, coordinated by and carried out by Tanya Freeman, Tina now has a replacement home to return to. Tanya is good in situations like this.

Finally, I would like to thank anyone else who made this possible. Please excuse me if I left out someone.
