There is a program available at New Frontiers to help those who may find themselves in need of food. “Anybody who is hungry qualifies,” said Lana Robards executive director. “For seniors, we can do home deliveries and are conscious of their dietary needs, i.e., allergies, diabetes, etc.”

She said the main delivery from the Food Bank of Northern Nevada is on Monday mornings, so any time after the staff finishes inventory and unpacking, community members can come. Anyone can get food any day of the week utilizing the phone number 775-442-1686.

TEFAP (commodities) delivery is the second Wednesday of each month and after the truck is unloaded clients can come.

“Since we purchased the lot next door, we have the ability to have a drive-through food distribution where the families can still choose what food they want,” said Robards. “We do not make up pre-made boxes since not everybody eats the same thing, not everybody has the ability to cook or know-how. We order some special items that are specific for our homeless population that needs help with food.”

There are also resources to help community members at Fallon Daily Bread, Out of Egypt Food Bank, the Food Pantry at Epworth Church, and the Fallon Community Soup Kitchen on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from noon to 2 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene, 1520 Grimes Street for a hot meal.
