We lost our little Momma early Saturday morning on June 5, 2021.
Mitsue O Messick was born on August 27, 1933, in Shizuoka Ken, Japan. She married our dad K.E. Messick in Tokyo, Japan on June 11, 1965, and they transferred to NAS Fallon shortly afterward.
She is survived by her daughter Judy, son-in-law Gaylan, and daughter Melissa. Her grandson Kenny, granddaughter-in-law Gwen, grandsons Stephen, Nicky, Robert, and Matthew. Great Grandchildren, Roy, Sheila, Clint, Eddie, Michael, and Akira.
Our Momma was fiercely loyal to her family and the hardest working woman we have ever known. She was always the first one to help, to give you that helping hand, the knock upside your head when you were being just plain dumb, and she never gave up. Never. Not on herself, not on her kids, her grandsons, family, or life. Whatever rocks or obstacles life threw at her she'd just find a way to go around it, through it, or she'd blow it up.
My daddy used to say, "If at first, you don’t succeed...get a bigger hammer." Well, our momma was the hammer. A finely tuned, short, and feisty hammer. We will miss her every day. She was the rock, the foundation, and the glue in this family.
Momma will be laid to rest at a private family graveside service with our dad in the Churchill County Cemetery.
