The Wingman Recommends – The Twisted Branch Twisted Branch

The plan was to go get flowers after breakfast for my mom for Mother’s Day, but I got sidetracked. By the size of the crowd I ran into, I wasn’t the only one who had the thought.

So where was this crowd? One of my favorite places - The Twisted Branch, owned by Megan Parish. It is truly an oasis in this desert. The unassuming old house is situated on the corner of South Taylor and West First Streets. Nestled underneath a bunch of cottonwoods, the patio offers customers a place to relax and visit with friends. Surrounded by flowers and lush greenery, the outdoor venue has become my favorite Friday night destination.

With a hint of the smell of flowers on the evening breeze, patio lights strung overhead, and the fire pit warming the cool night air, I get almost giddy as I approach the entrance. When you see it, you ask yourself, is it a nursery? Is it a gift shop? Is it a wine and spirits store? Yes – it is all of those. And it works.

But, on this day – the day before Mother’s Day, it was a place for families and friends to gather and celebrate their moms and for this mom to celebrate with her other mom friends. We soon forgot about our errands and settled into the warmth of the spring day. Inside, Megan even had us covered on shopping for Mom and our daughters. Fresh cut flowers were arranged beautifully in vases from the shop. Lovely art and jewelry caught our eye, as we perused a treasure trove of candles, leather journals, décor, and antiques. Though our moms were on our mind (I chose a stunning vase with blush pink roses for my own), we also shopped for ourselves. Let’s face it – we celebrated being moms.

Once you are there, you may not want to hurry off to your next errand or you may even change your evening plans. This wingman is hoping all of you check out The Twisted Branch and the great events in the garden patio every Friday evening. The bar is open from 5:00 to-8:00ish with Friday drink specials and event details posted on her Facebook page at  www.facebook.com/twistedbranchfallon.
