Captain’s Log – Bailed out…

The cooler is working! Thank you, Jarrod, Danny, Zack, Ginny…the list is long of the people who made this whole air conditioning thing finally work. We also want to thank the e-mail peanut gallery for their funny suggestions, check-ins, offers for a new building, etc… it’s been a super funny couple of weeks.

I really have nothing to write about this week – stumped. Baffled. Making it up as I go along… the story of my life.

Let’s see… in our shop right now… I’m surrounded by amazing people, Jo and Ginny and Leanna; gorgeous flowers, of course the hot pink geraniums that were gifted to me by the man behind the screen, he who prefers not to be named, my Bob and his Gail who helped me start this glorious experiment and then abandoned me to seek their next adventure. We also have these beautiful, luscious, purple calla lilies, and my fake jungle trees behind which my desk hides. And there is good, really good music on the little fancy speaker and the girls tell what to play. Nathaniel Rateliff and his S.O.B. radio – solid, hearty rhythm and blues. Small town, American music that vibrates your heart and soothes your soul.

It’s got a good beat and you can dance to it. Or write, as the case may be.

We lost some good ones this week. Sheila and Tom and Randy (who we don’t have in yet) were all pioneers in this community. Good souls. The best laughs. The whole year has taken a toll, with so many lost. A painful but super good reminder to love while you can. Make the call, meet for coffee, don’t pass up a moment to really live. There’s no perfect way, we’re all really just making it up as we go along.
