Obituaries -- Ivan Richard Evans Ivan Richard Evans
July 31, 1943 - March 26, 2021

Ivan Richard Evans passed away peacefully at his home in Fallon on Friday, March 26, 2021.  Ivan was born July 31, 1943, to Noble and Mae Evans. Ivan is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Judith Evans. He is also survived by his children Richard (Julie) Evans, Sandra Miller, and Darren Evans; his grandchildren Jacob (Rebecca) Evans, Sarah (Dallas) Hatch, Hannah Evans, Joshua Evans, Daniel Evans, Jared Miller, and Jaylene Evans; and great-granddaughter, Charley Evans.
Ivan is also survived by his sisters Sheryl Evans, Gayle Martin, and Karen Gray-Jacoby. Ivan is preceded in death by his parents Noble and Mae Evans, and siblings David Evans, Dianne Transtrum, Brent Evans, Dennis Evans, Larry Evans, and Mary Katherine Evans.

Ivan was a longtime resident of and spent most of his life in Fallon. He was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved camping, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, gold mining, and rock hunting.  But more than that, he would take his horses into the mountains with him and spend a month or so at a time. He loved working with the youth, teaching them and introducing them into his life, and letting them experience the great outdoors.  He would take his children, nephews, and others along with him on these excursions to teach them how to hunt, camp, survive, etc.  He also spent some time coaching a youth football team and was very proud when they won a championship.

Ivan was always happy.  He loved life and people and his animals. He loved to joke around and make people laugh. Ivan was a very special, unique, and caring person.  He could do anything and was always helping other people. Ivan never met a stranger and is well known and has many friends throughout Nevada. Family members have mentioned that it was nothing for them to be somewhere and someone would come up and visit that knew Ivan and talk about how he fixed something for them or coached them in football when they were young, or taught them life experiences, etc.  It was common to be somewhere and introduce yourself as an Evans and they would ask, "Are you related to Ivan?"

Ivan worked many jobs and was a jack-of-all-trades.  He milked cows at the dairies in Fallon, Hazen, and Lovelock for many years as a younger man.  He also worked for many years and retired from Kennametal in Fallon, Nevada.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 2, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the Tolas Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 125 W Tolas Pl., Fallon, Nevada.  Arrangements are under the direction of The Gardens Funeral Home, 775-423-8928.
