The City of Fallon has put on a fireworks show on New Year’s Eve every year since 1999 when Mayor Ken Tedford hosted a year long celebration to usher in the new centennial, during 2000. Held at 6:00 p.m. so that community children can enjoy the show, the fireworks are held at the Churchill County Fairgrounds and can be seen from nearly every home in the community.

Traditionally, the fireworks show culminates in a bonfire celebration with hot chocolate and visiting, where the community’s Christmas trees can be burned. This year that part of the celebration was cancelled, however, popular opinion was that the Mayor and City Council outdid themselves this year with the fireworks show.
