As part of Numa’s plan to build school community and connection, every student and staff member at Numa Elementary belongs to a school-wide tribe, either Red, Green, Yellow, or Blue. The tribes are a mix of 4th and 5th graders from every class as well as all teachers and all school staff.
Throughout the year there are both social and academic flash challenges and activities where points can be earned, in individual classrooms, by grade level, and whole school. This helps to engage and connect students and staff in some fun and friendly competition. At the end of each quarter, the tribe with the most points accumulated gets to be called down to the cafeteria to enjoy donuts together. This year staff has had to be creative both in planning the challenges and activities, and also making sure to maintain safety protocols and social distancing with the donut awards.
On Friday, October 23rd the GREEN tribe got to celebrate their 1st quarter victory with donuts. Half of the green tribe in the AM session and the other half in the PM session, with plenty of room for social distancing.
