Anne Wines Erkkila, of Yerington, was a Dr. Mary Baby, born at the old hospital in Yerington, on January 9, 1947 to Albert and Lorraine (Schmaling) Wines. Anne grew up in Smith Valley, but lived most of her adult life in Yerington. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, Clyde and Verna (Bradshaw) Wines and Alfred and Ethel (Fredericks) Schmid, aunt, Frances (Marvin) Miner, husband Walt Erkkila, and infant daughter Amy.
She spent her career as Chief Financial Officer at South Lyon Medical Center, where she made many lifelong friends. She retired from there in 2011.
Anne was the go-to computer wizard for her family, friends, and colleagues. She and her sister, Susan, even created their own version of the internet acronyms we all use today, sending each other emails using their “code”, which only they could decipher. Anne was also an avid reader, and enjoyed working word puzzles while she had her morning coffee. She never met a chocolate chip cookie she could resist, and remarked often, “I know I shouldn’t, but my sweet tooth just can’t help itself!”
Anne is survived by her daughter, Tracy Frost of Yerington; sister, Susan (Don) Cochran of Yerington; granddaughter, Alicia (Trevor) Parsons of Stanley, North Dakota; grandsons Chris and Kevin Marriott, of Winnemucca and Kyle Marriott of Yerington; great grandchildren Victoria Marriott, Skylar Marriott, Kyle Marriott Jr., Leland Marriott, and Rhett Parsons. She also leaves behind two nieces and many, many cousins.
Due to COVID restrictions, burial in Smith Valley will be restricted to family only, and the family will be hosting a celebration of life at a future date.
