Testing data released today by Churchill County is showing 11 active COVID cases in the community as of today, September 14th. There are no people currently hospitalized, and 116 people have recovered from the virus, out of a total of 130 positive cases since March.
There have been a total of 6,352 people tested in Churchill County for the virus at several locations, including Banner Churchill Community Hospital, NAS Fallon, the Renown Clinic, and the Fallon Tribe as well as the community testing at the Fairgrounds. Of the 130 positive cases, 45 of those have been asymptomatic postives.
To meet the needs of the community, free asymptomatic COVID testing at the fairgrounds is being expanded and held twice a week: Tuesdays from 3:30-6 p.m. and Thursdays from 7:30-8:30 a.m.
Please call (775) 423-6695, option 2, prior to 2 p.m. to be scheduled for the next available testing date and remember, they are using the least invasive nose swab…no more tickling your brain to do the test.
Testing numbers are used to meet Governor Sisolak's requirements to keep the community open; one of the meausrements used by the COVID taskforce is the percentage of the population that tests positive. Each test that comes back negative helps lower the postitivity rate.
