Simon the Fiddler by Paulette Jiles
Carol Lloyd sends a her newest book review...

Simon was conscripted late in the Civil War and after his last battle he and fellow musicians are tapped to play at a dinner. He sees Doris, the nanny of a Union officer, and is immediately smitten. This book is the story of Simon making his way to San Antonio in hopes that Doris feels the same about him. A beautifully written tale with lots of history woven together with authentic characters and descriptive landscapes.

Jiles is the author of "News of the World" which is a favorite of mine. Both titles are available in print and downloadable from Overdrive/Libby.

Carol Lloyd is the Director of the Churchill County Library. The library is currently offering Curb Service for materials.

Keep writing these book reviews, please.
News of the World is one of my all time favorite books, and I didn't even know this new book was out.
Thank you.
