CCDCC meeting, October 10, 2019 Churchill County Democrats met on October 10 to discuss the plans for the 2020 Democratic Presidential Caucus and to hear from a member of the Elizabeth Warren for President campaign staff. Nnedi Stephens was born and raised in Reno, so she knows northern Nevada very well. She told the group that the Warren campaign now has an office in Reno, and she talked about some of the issues Warren is working on. Labor issues are one of the most important. Warren is working on a policy that would allow gig workers in the current gig economy to unionize, so they have more control over their future. Stephens said she had worked on the Jackie Rosen for Senate campaign, so she has great experience. The Nevada Democratic Caucus will be held in February. Early voting will be from Feb. 15-18, and the traditional caucus will be held on Feb. 22. Specific times and places will be announced later. The state Democratic Party is working to make the process as inclusive as possible, but more volunteers are needed to make sure everything goes smoothly. Anyone interested in volunteering to help with the caucus can go to https://nvdems.com/2020-caucus for more information. The group also discussed plans for their December Christmas Party, and began putting together a committee to plan the 2020 Sawyer-Bryan Dinner, which will be held on May 16. Their next monthly meeting will be on November 14. Support local, independent news – contribute to The Fallon Post, your non-profit (501c3) online news source for all things Fallon.
