Civics 101 -- Tom Riggins
Hello. My name is Tom Riggins and I am a forty year resident of Fallon. Yes, that makes me old. Anyway, you may or may not know me from writing in another venue. That venue is presented as an opinion column. This one is intended to be different. I am going to try to inform and educate without being boring or expressing any political opinion. I find it sad that public schools do a poor job of educating about our government and how it is supposed to work. Our local schools do better than most, but Nevada has a transient population. There are a lot of people moving in and out. With our new population growth there are a lot of people moving here for the first time. I will often to address topics in a timely manner as they arise in the news but will delve into other topics in between. The writings will be sourced primarily from the Constitution and the Federalist Papers with other references as appropriate.
